Janet Myers LCSW, PEL

Janet Myers is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She received her degree from Loyola University. Janet has been practicing in the field for over 20 years. Her experiences include working in private practice and in school settings.  Janet has developed numerous groups for youth, which include social skills: girls group, pet therapy group, transition to school, and problem solving groups.  She works with individual, family, children, adolescents, groups, and couple counseling.

The populations she works with include: ADHD, Asperger’s, parenting, behavioral issues, victims of bullying, depression, anxiety, marital conflict, and family divorce. Janet also has expertise in program development and supervision.

Professional Orientation

Mrs. Myers utilizes a problem solving / cognitive behavioral approach. She focuses on where the client is at and partners with them in their journey to recovery.  She utilizes handouts and assignments to facilitate growth and learning. Janet helps clients develop awareness into the relationship between thoughts, behaviors, and beliefs.  This awareness allows clients to not only experience better insight into their problems but more control over their lives as well.

Mark Myers LCSW, CADC

Mark Myers offers mental health and substance abuse services to individuals, families, couples, and the community. He works with a client-centered approach. Understanding each counseling situation presents unique challenges. He tailors his style to draw on the strengths of the counselee while developing strategies to overcome obstacles they face. His professional approach focuses on behavior and thought. Mark uses techniques to enhance problem-solving skills, communication, and coping skills. Research supports there is a strong relationship between our thoughts and our emotions. Individuals can redirect unproductive thoughts and behavioral patterns by understanding and becoming more aware of this relationship. Mark also encourages tapping into our resources using handouts, readings, and therapeutic exercises. He works in partnership with individuals to change behaviors and thoughts, allowing individuals to grow even after therapy ends.

He received his Master of Social Work Degree from Loyola University. Mark has been practicing mental health and substance abuse counseling for over 20 years. He is an Illinois Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. He has offered lectures in the following areas: substance abuse, anger management, communication skills, stress management, general wellness, and steroid abuse. 

Mark has provided numerous presentations to schools, business professionals, and community members. He has offered lectures in the following areas: substance abuse, anger management, communication skills, stress management, general wellness, and steroid abuse. He has also consulted school districts, hospitals, corporations, and agencies in various capacities. He has also co-published one book, Falling Trees, Color Blind Scientists, and Addiction. Mark is also in the process of publishing his second with Janet, Finding Our Way Home: A Recovery Guide for Families Experiencing Substance Use Disorder (Spring 2024).
